When a product is being designed, it is advantageous to include manufacturing engineers and production personnel in the design review process. Each design review should consider the production impacts on the design and the design consequences on production. The sooner in the design cycle these issues can be addressed the less impact the change will have on cost and timing.

A Design For Manufacturing (DFM) event is both structured from the aspect of being organized to adequately cover all aspects of design and manufacture and at the same time is free flowing from the aspect of being creative in considering design and processing options and alternatives.

Use of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) technique can aid designers and producers in understanding what the relevance is of various characteristics versus how the characteristic can be achieved in production.

We offer one, two and three day workshops which can be customized for your product's design and processes. The workshop also covers basic DFM concepts to begin shifting the design activity toward process considerations during the design phase.
